@kensanata I haven't used any personally, but the most commonly used software currently seems the Pleroma relay: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/relay
Finding those is easy, just search for "activitypub relay at" (including quote marks).
As for operational details, I have no idea either. All instances participating in the relay share their local timelines?

Reading a bit about relays, I think it's not exactly what I would want. I like the idea of my instance being just me and the people I follow. Adding content from a relay seems like it would pollute.
@ewb Yeah, that was my choice too - it kinda defeats the advantages of a single-user instance. Might be a vehicle for initial discovery nevertheless, but I got along well without.
